7byONE: id/ID examines the fascinating dichotomy of identity through two distinct lenses. We begin with ID - the structured, external self shaped by societal expectations, family, nationality, and cultural inheritance. Contrastingly, we delve into the psychological id - the raw, internal world of instinct, longing, and memory that defies documentation. Together, these pieces reflect the harmony and tension between the public faces we wear and the private emotional truths we hold close.

Yet, as we navigate these spaces, we discover that the boundaries are rarely clear-cut. The lines between the public and private self often blur, revealing a messy, beautiful middle ground where our external roles and deepest internal truths bleed into one another.

This concert features illustrator Virginia Goh. Through her artwork, she explores how images can extend the experience of choral music, bringing the audience closer to the emotional language of each piece.

About ONE Chamber Choir

At ONE Chamber Choir, we believe in the transformative power of choral music to touch hearts and bring communities together. Established in June 2009 as a young adult choir under the baton of Ms Lim Ai Hooi, the choir's mission is to challenge the norms of conventional choral delivery, bringing a new dimension to choral music.

On the international stage, the choir has clinched various awards over the years, including Champion of the World Choir Games in the Mixed Chamber Choir category. It has also brought renowned overseas clinicians to Singapore, such as Maestro Werner Pfaff from Germany, Maestro Māris Sirmais from Latvia, and Maestro André van der Merwe from South Africa.

For ONE Chamber Choir, singing goes beyond a performance - it is a means of honouring shared humanity, creating meaningful experiences, and fostering deep connections between both singers and the audience.
